Why we love him: He’s an acclaimed and well-awarded Canadian wildlife photographer famous for all those incredible underwater polar shots you’ve admired since you were a kid.

One of the most acclaimed nature photographers in the world, Paul Nicklen was well-known long before the birth of Instagram – he has worked for National Geographic for decades – so it’s no surprise his images have helped build a community of over 5 million people on the platform.

Many of us have come to know him through his crazy photo series of being fed penguins by a curious and frightfully large leopard seal in Antarctica, his shots put us in the front seat of incredible wildlife action.

Now frequently using his voice for conservation and sustainability, Paul Nicklen has helped lead the charge for ocean conservation inspiring millions to stand up against climate change through powerful storytelling as a co-founder of the non-profit @sealegacy.
