Our Story
The Travel Bootcamp started began when Georgia Rickard met Lauren Bath at the Australian Society of Travel Writers’ 2015 Annual General Meeting, held that year in Fiji. A few weeks later, Georgia sent Lauren an email about a business idea – and when the three women came together for the Bootcamp’s inaugural event, held June 2016 in Sydney, the crowd responded with a standing ovation. “And that’s how we knew we had something special,” Georgia says.
The Travel Bootcamp has since held events in major Australian cities including Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, attracting attendees from every corner of the globe including far-reaching places such as Alaska, Bern, Spain, Hawaii, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Darwin and Wellington. In 2017, The Travel Bootcamp was featured on 60 Minutes’ Australian edition in an episode starring Lauren Bath; the company and its founders has also been featured in local and international press including Forbes, CNN and Conde Nast Traveler. Anyone is welcome to attend. Previous attendees have included an Olympic swimming champion, a Fortune 500 company co-founder and several well-known influencers and media personalities, as well as regular, everyday folk: mums, university students, teenagers and more.
